The 3000 size is designed for English style float fishing and the 4000 for feeder/bomb, with ultra-shallow spools which avoid unnecessary backing, improve line lay and casting accuracy. Each reel is supplied with rubber buttons identifying line diameter or breaking strain and these fit securely into spools.
The choice between front and rear drag models is down to angler preference but in practice both models provide accurate, incremental clutch adjustment.
