A self cocking float ensures you can present your dead baits with ease without having to use shot or extra weight. These floats are ideally fished with the bait set over depth (the length of the line below the float set longer than the depth of the water), meaning the dead bait will be fishing and presented on the bottom. These floats are very sensitive to movement and are used primarily as an indicator to let you know when a fish is in the vicinity, mouthing or has taken the bait. Such is the sensitivity of these floats; you will see indication on the float from a waft of a tail or the water displacement as a bigger predator moves in on the bait. These floats will often lift out of the water to indicate a bite when set correctly.
