So Greys have constructed the reel with a Rulon Disc Drag System. Rulon is the name for a family of plastics, and the purpose of using Rulon in the GTS is heat dissipation. When the disc makes contact with the spool, it slows the spool down as it turns, but this generates heat. Therefore, because Rulon is very heat tolerant, there will be less pressure required to make the drag deliver enough friction. This results in a smoother drag, less wear, and less permanent compression of the drag washers. Essentially, the reel will last a lot longer!
A click adjustment controls the drag, which is very audible and easy to detect if there is too much or too little drag. No drag will allow fly line to leave the spool with little or no resistance; increased tension will give you the opposite. The drag on the 300 is very simple to use, and its very reliable.
